Review: Claim Jumper Chicken Marsala

Prior to eating Claim Jumper Chicken Marsala I had tried the Italian dish only once before. I liked it, though I recollect only the faintest of details. Perhaps this meal would refresh my memory.

Preparing this dinner is easy. First puncture the plastic film several times with a fork in order to vent the frozen food. Then place the container in a 350 degree oven and cook for 30-35 minutes. Stir well and serve.

Big pieces of rigatoni pasta make up most of this dinner. Despite being too chewy and overdone it does a solid job on its own and is ideal for picking up sauce.

Sadly the marsala sauce is no good. It's a combination of marsala wine, cream and soy sauce. While I enjoyed the consistency (not too thick, not too thin) it was excessively salty. And there's so much. Feel free to throw away half of it.

My favorite part of this meal is the roasted white meat chicken. While it isn't the most succulent the chicken is tasty and plentiful. Conversely, the baby bella mushrooms are extremely rare. In fact there were only two sizable pieces in my plate. Perhaps the rest were diced and mixed in the marsala. Likewise the most of the onions were swimming in the sauce. Neither are worth the effort.

I hate it when companies inflate the serving per number to try and disguise how awful their food is. Shame on you Claim Jumper. If there's two servings then split the food into two separate containers. Otherwise don't shy from the fact this meal contains 72% and 60% of a person's daily recommended total fat and cholesterol, respectively. Chicken Marsala also exceeds the daily totals for saturated fat and sodium. What a nutritional meltdown of a meal.

The worst thing about Claim Jumper Chicken Marsala is that it's not even filling! A lot of the calories come from the bloated hodgepodge of a sauce. Hideous for your health and unappetizing; a one-two punch that needs to be avoided.
